"Hhhaaa-haa." Autumn heard someone's faint laughter.
It was not Mushroomy. Although the voice was also thin, it was definitely a girl who laughed.
Autumn has turned. The forest seemed to be the same, but not the same...
She could definitely tell that there was much less light here than the last time, and giant mushrooms were growing everywhere... But there were no giant mushrooms. Just huge old trees. But the stump on which the Mushroomy sat last time and the log path were the same.
"How strange. Where are the mushrooms?" Autumn said aloud.
"How strange, where are the mushrooms." the voice mimicked and giggled again.
Autumn looked around the forest, straining her eyes to see the owner of the voice. But there was darkness everywhere, and it was hard to see anything.
“Who is talking to me?” asked Autumn loudly.
“And I wasn't talking to you,” replied the voice.
Sensing that the voice was coming from somewhere above, Autumn raised her head.
On one of the lower branches of a nearby oak tree sat a small creature, with thin, flickering wings.
“Ah, there you are!" murmured the girl, looking at the little silhouette.
The creature giggled again, throwing its head back and kicking its legs happily.
“It looks like a fairy to me... I certainly haven't seen so many of them in person to tell for sure”
Autumn stepped closer. ‘That's it, a fairy!’
“You are a fairy.” said the girl to the creature. It laughed loudly again.
“It's clear,” thought Autumn, “there's no talking to her - she only giggles.”
“I'm looking for the Mushroomy” the girl tried again.
“He's not here.” suddenly answered the creature.
“And where is he?”
The fairy shrugged her small shoulders.
She looked at Autumn with wide-open eyes, a mischievous smile playing on her sly face.
"And where are the mushrooms?" asked Autumn.
"Where have you seen mushrooms in November?"
"But there were giant mushrooms everywhere...."
"Giant or not, mushrooms don't grow in November."
"That's right, thought the girl, today is the last day of October, so it's practically November. But how am I going to find Mushroomy? That fairy doesn't seem to be in the mood to help at all."
Autumn turned to the tree - the hollow remained in place.
“Well, if I don’t manage to find Mushroom today, I’ll come back here tomorrow. The hollow doesn't seem to be going to disappear again, so it's all right.”
Autumn turned to the fairy - the girl's eyes had grown accustomed to the twilight and she could now examine her carefully.
The fairy was no bigger than a teacup, with transparent, pointed wings with a glittering cobweb pattern.
